Letters are a way to communicate in the Animal Crossing series. Players have the ability to write, send, and receive letters to villagers and friends.

To send a letter, the player must first obtain some stationery. Stationary can be purchased from Tom Nook's store, be given to the player from villagers, be found in the dump, or found in lost property. The player can send letters to the following addressees: villagers in the player's town, other characters in the player's town, the Faraway Museum in Animal Crossing, and the player's future self.

Filbert (リッキー, Ricky?) is a lazy squirrel villager in the Animal Crossing series. His name, like most of his species, comes from a type of nut. In this case, his name comes from an edible type of hazelnut. He has made an appearance in every game so far. He is the only lazy squirrel in the series so far. His initial catchphrase could possibly be a reference to what squirrels commonly say in cartoons.

As a lazy villager, Filbert will be easy to get along with due to his laid back and calm lifestyle. Like all lazy villagers, he shares an interest in food, relaxing, being calm, and resting.

  1. Kapp'n and his family are based off of Kappas, Japanese water demons with a love for cucumbers. The player will often hear Kapp'n referring to cucumbers during his sea-shanties on the way to the Island.
  2. In Animal Crossing, the program that is viewed on the television depends on which TV the player owns, not the current time.
  3. Gulliver often makes references to video games and other characters outside of the Animal Crossing series.
