Buyer's tips
From Animal Crossing City
Here are some tips for buying items in the Animal Crossing series.
- If you see an item you want at Tom Nook's store, then buy it that day. It might not be there again for a while.
- Before buying an item at Crazy Redd's make sure you've checked Nook's for it. Although Redd has rare stuff, it's very overpriced.
- Traveling to other towns is the best way to find an item you want. Different items are more rare or less rare in different towns. For example, a modern bed might be rare in your town but common in another town.
- Be careful when you buy paintings from Crazy Redd. He will sometimes sell Forged Paintings.
- If Joan is selling Turnips at a high price, it's a safe bet Tom Nook will buy at a very high price, however, time travelling will ruin this.
- A good way to get a lot of items is by picking them up. When you pick up an item, it automatically is added to your catalog. An easy way to do this is to pick up items from someone you trust. Even doing this in a foreign town will put it in your catalog.
- A few stationery pieces can only be attained through events, for example, the paper Mayor Tortimer sends you after winning a Fishing Tourney or Bug Off and if you buy insurance from Lyle.
- Note that catalogs have mostly under priced items.
- In Animal Crossing for the Gamecube, if you buy five pieces of furniture or wallpaper/carpet from Tom Nook, you will be able to participate in the raffle and get rare items for free.
