- "I caught a common dragonfly! I love the way they zoom around!" —Animal Crossing
The common dragonfly is a dragonfly that has only appeared in Animal Crossing. True to its name, it is the most common of the dragonflies during its season, being less abundant than the swarming red dragonfly in the autumn. It appears alone, similar to the banded and darner dragonfly, unlike red dragonflies did in Animal Crossing.

The common dragonfly is a representation of the white-tailed skimmer. This dragonfly can be found across nearly the entire Eurasian continent, from the plains of central Europe all the way to the islands of Japan. It does not tend to grow more than 7cm in wingspan, and lives near open ponds and lakes.
- In the bug exhibit in Animal Crossing, the common dragonfly will often land on the player's head for a short time.
