"Oh, I was about to use the weather as an excuse!"Croque (タイシ, Taishi?) is a cranky frog villager who first appeared in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. His name is derived from the onomatopoeia "croak", which is a noise commonly thought to be made by a frog.
— Croque, Animal Crossing: New Leaf
Croque's apperance is based on Daruma-Taishi or Bodhidharma, an Indian monk born the prince of a country in southern India in the mid-5th Century. Bodhidharma is also the inspiration for the traditional Daruma dolls in Japanese culture, represented in game as the Dharma Set.
He is mainly deep orange but has a white ridged muzzle. His frown and thick eyebrows and mustache give him the cranky appearance.
|Below is a brief description of the cranky personality. For more information, click here.|
Croque's house takes on the appearance of an autumnal forest, with some Japanese references. He has two Tall Clankoids by the entrance, and has all the furniture from the Zen Garden set which consist of: two Tall Lanterns (in the far left and right lower corners), a bonfire (in front of the right window), a deer scare (close to the upper left corner), a outdoor bath (in front of the left window), and three tree standees (lined up at the back of the room). If his house has a stereo, it will be playing K.K. Jongara.
