Distributed Items are items sent to the Player from Nintendo using the Nintendo WiiConnect24 system, which enables the Wii to connect to the internet, even when it is in stand-by mode! The items are linked to real-time events in the real-world which do not exist in game, such as St. Patrick's Day which exists in the real-world but doesn't appear in Animal Crossing: City Folk as a celebrated event.

Distributed items are scheduled to be released usually during a 7-day period, where the item is received within the allotted time. Pete, the mail carrier, gives you the items attached as presents to letters, when you enter the game and will be standing outside to get the Player's attention. He will mention that the letters are from Nintendo, but some may be signed by special residents or out-of-game characters that appear in other Nintendo games. Other times, if it's not Pete, Wendell will give you one of his designs to commemorate a special occasion.

WiiConnect24 needs to be enabled both on the Wii and in the game, to receive the items.

[edit] Red Pikmin Hat

The Red Pikmin Hat.
The Red Pikmin Hat was released to commemorate the release of the New Play Control! Pikmin 2 game. Pikmin 2 was first released on the Gamecube and was later released again for the Wii except with new controls that utilize the new Wii Remote functionality. It was first released in Japan on Christmas Eve, and was later sent across the world in March. To celebrate this, Nintendo sent a letter with the hat attached as a present. The letter read:

Dear <Player>,

Look what bloomed in
celebration of spring's
beginning--a Pikmin hat!
It won't make you immune
to fire, but hopefully it'll
put a spring in your step!

[edit] Shamrock Hat

The shamrock hat was released to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. It was distributed to North America and Europe on the 17th March and could be obtained until the 30th March. It is considered to be one of the game's Lucky Items. The letter Nintendo sent out read:

Dear <Player>,

We found this little
treasure hidden at the end
of a rainbow. No promises,
but it should keep you safe
from pinches.

The Nintendo DSi seat (or bench, as some call it) was distributed to North America and Europe. There are two versions, a white one (sent to Europe) and a black one (sent to North America). It was released to celebrate to launch of the new Nintendo DSi handheld console, the predessor of it being the Nintendo DS Lite. It was available to receive between the 3rd April to the 16th April. The letter reads:

Dear <Player>,

Happy Nintendo DSi Day!
With this nifty piece of
furniture, you can
celebrate the occasion by
sitting around!

The flamenco set was distributed as two items, the flamenco dress and the flamenco hat. These items were distributed as part of the Feria De Abril event, which is a fair in Spain. The items were given out to Europe. They were available from April 24th to May 3rd

[edit] Flamenco Dress

The first item you can receive out of the set is the flamenco dress, which is a PRO design. It is given to the Player by Wendell, who waits outside the Players house when starting a game. He will grab the Players attention, asking the Player to have a look at a new design he has created with a typical Yes/OK or No answer. Agreeing to see the outfit will prompt you to replace a current design with it.

[edit] Flamenco Hat

The flamenco hat is gained after receiving the flamenco dress, by talking to Pete as you leave the house. He will be standing outside as per usual, waiting for you start the game and will give you a letter from Nintendo. The letter reads:

Dear <Player>,

It's festival time in the
south of Spain! With this
traditional flamenco hat
you're all set for a
fabulous fiesta! Olé!

You can achieve the flamenco hat by saving and starting the game after receiving the flamenco dress from Wendell. It may also be possible to enter the house and leave immediately, to have Pete stand outside.

Once the Player has received the hat, it can be bought from Tom Nook's Store for 1,600 Bells.

The model bus was distributed to North America and Europe as part of the Teacher's Day celebrations. It is a model replica of the bus that takes you to and from the City. It was made available between 5th May - 19th May. The letter reads:

Dear <Player>,

Don't miss the bus! This
bus takes you to the city,
but most other buses take
you to another important
place! Happy Teacher

The green headgear was distributed to Europe. It was released for the run-up of the new Nintendo Wii game, Punch-Out!!. It is part of a series of boxing games, the NES Punch-Out!!, the SNES Super Punch-Out!! and the new Wii game, which returns to the NES name, Punch-Out!! Little Mac appeared in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as an assist. trophy. The headgear is similar to the Little Mac's, and the hair colour depends on the colour of the Player's hair. It was made available between 22nd May - 5th June. The letter reads:

Dear <Player>,

I've been training for my
comeback and I need your
help! Wear my headgear
with pride so you can roll
with the punches!

Once the Player has received the headgear, it can be bought from Tom Nook's Store for 800 Bells.

The sandcastle was distributed to Europe as the winning entry of the Summer Competition held by Nintendo Europe. It was released for the summer and was made available between 21st June and 5th July. The letter reads:

Dear <Player>,

Summer is here, so why not
bring the beach back home
today? This sandcastle,
winner of our European
summer item competition,
will set the tone for sure!

The Eiffel Tower lamp was distributed to European players for Bastille Day in France, which celebrates the storming of the Bastille (prison) which played a major part in the French Revolution. It was released and made available between 14th July and 27th July. The letter reads:

Dear <Player>,

In France we celebrate
Bastille Day on 14 July.
Will you celebrate with us?
This model tower will
shine a light on any party!

The GameCube chest (also known as the 'Gamecube dresser when traded to an American system), was distributed to European players for the summer holidays. It was released and made available between 15th and 29th August. The letter reads:
