Distributed Items
Redirected from Distributed Item
Distributed Items are items sent to the Player from Nintendo using the Nintendo WiiConnect24 system, which enables the Wii to connect to the internet, even when it is in stand-by mode! The items are linked to real-time events in the real-world which do not exist in game, such as St. Patrick's Day which exists in the real-world but doesn't appear in Animal Crossing: City Folk as a celebrated event.
Distributed items are scheduled to be released usually during a 7-day period, where the item is received within the allotted time. Pete, the mail carrier, gives you the items attached as presents to letters, when you enter the game and will be standing outside to get the Player's attention. He will mention that the letters are from Nintendo, but some may be signed by special residents or out-of-game characters that appear in other Nintendo games. Other times, if it's not Pete, Wendell will give you one of his designs to commemorate a special occasion.
WiiConnect24 needs to be enabled both on the Wii and in the game, to receive the items.
The items that appear in game are listed below:

It was first released in Japan on Christmas Eve 2008, and was later sent across the world in March 25th. To celebrate this, Nintendo sent a letter with the hat attached as a present. The letter read:

beginning--a Pikmin hat!
It won't make you immune
