You wear a viking helmet if you are a boy and a cone hat if you are a girl, so hair does not matter.
However, the way you answer Rover's questions on the train affects how your character appears physically. First, Rover will see you and walk over. He will ask you for the correct time. Give it to him and move on.
• Question 1: Hey, mind if I sit here? I promise I won't fall asleep, tumble onto you and start drooling on your shirt!
B. No Way!
Rover will sit down either way. He will then ask you your name, your gender, and the town you're going to.
• Question 2: So, tell me, why are you going to <town name>?
A. I'm moving.
B. What's it to ya?
• Question 3: So where are you going to be living?
A. Don't know yet.;
B. Leave me alone!
Whatever your answer is, Rover will then call Nook and arrange for him to sell you a house.
• Question 4: You have money, right?
A. Oh yeah!
B. Just a little...
- For the purposes of this FAQ, always pick B for Question 4!
The following 3 letter combinations of A and B represent the answers to questions 1-3. To be able to choose which face you want ALWAYS pick B for Question 4; otherwise the face will be randomized and NOT chosen by you.
After this, you get out of the train and see your face. If you don't like it, you can simply power off and try again.
- These below pictures are guides to help your player reflect your appearance as much as possible! Please note that when you get Nookingtons you can dye your hair in the salon, so if you love a certain face but hate the hair just cover it with a hat until your shop upgrades!
To be able to control what you face in AC:WW looks like only happens at the very beginning of the game, when Kapp'n is driving you to your, possibly new, town. Note: These questions also affect your hair, but you can always change that later. Also your hair can only start of as pink or brown for a girl. And just brown for the boys.

Kapp'n starts the car ride's conversation like this:
Kapp'n: Fishes could swim in this road... This rain be merciless!
You: A I know! B It's calming.
Kapp'n: So tell me, Why are ye settin' sail?
You: A I'm moving.; B Butt out!
Kapp'n: Do you have enough money to get settled?
You: A Yup!; B Kinda...
He will ask you other questions, like where you are going (only if you're the first person to live in your town), why you are going there (only if you're the first person), and your name, but these DO NOT affect your face. Note: These are permanent so be sure to make the right face before creating your character! The hairstyle can be changed later by visiting Shampoodle at Nook's.
"A" indicates the top answer choice while "B" will be the bottom answer (i.e. AAA means top answers for all three questions while AAB means top answers for two questions and bottom answer for the last question).
At the start of City Folk, Rover asks the player some questions which determine his/her face style. This is a guide so the player can see how to get a certain style. Chose the answer letter accordingly to get the face style you want! (If you don't like the shirt or hairstyle, those can be changed later. Find more info on changing hairstyles here.)
These are the questions asked by Rover on the bus to determine your look:
Aren't you excited?
AOh, yeah! B Not really.
You know where your house is yet?
AI'll find one! B Not at all.
I guess you have some money with you?
ASome... B Not much.
