Sparklers are hand held objects that Tortimer gives to the player to use during special events in the Animal Crossing series, such as the weekly fireworks show in August and New Year's Eve. It is similar in appearance to the Roman Candle, but only sparkles until it burns out. Also like Roman Candles and Party Poppers, the player can get as many as they wish by dropping the item and speaking to Tortimer again.
New Leaf[]
During the Fireworks Show, Redd will set up a stand selling Redd's Cookies for 500 bells. These cookies are like the fortune cookies sold at the Nookling stores. If the character trades in a dud ticket, they will receive a sparkler.
In addition, a sparkler was also available during the month of August on any of the Nookling Stores which replace one of the Fortune Cookies randomly.
In New Horizons[]
In New Horizons, sparklers can be redeemed as prizes from Redd's raffle in the plaza. This is one of the items players can receive during the Fireworks Show, which was announced by Nintendo as part of the summer wave #2 update. It comes in two variations of red and blue and can be interacted with. The player will draw an outline of a figure 8 until the sparkler runs out.
