Chadder (チーズ, Chīzu^?, Cheese) is a smug mouse villager in the Animal Crossing series. His Japanese name is a direct loan word of the English word "cheese." His English name references cheddar cheese, and may be a pun on "chatter", meaning to talk rapidly, or the name "Chad". His catchphrase, "fromage", is the French word for cheese.

He has the fitness hobby.

Appearance

Chadder is a dark yellow mouse with three orange spots on his face, six on his ears, and one on each of his legs, similar to the holes in Swiss cheese. He has a mint green nose and reddish-brown paws. His initial shirt is the tuxedo (changed to the tailcoat in New Horizons) and when it rains, he holds the eggy parasol.

Smug villagers are very polite, kind, and gentleman-like. As a smug villager, Chadder will get along easily with other villagers. Smug villagers get along well with most villagers, their personality appearing to be a mix of the other personality types. Smug villagers will stroke their egos from time to time, going on about how cool they are.

Generally, Chadder will get along with lazy, normal, snooty, and peppy villagers, and may conflict with cranky villagers.

House

In New Leaf, Chadder's house has a slightly futuristic theme to it and has a number of items from the astro series, such as the clock and the couch. To go along with his futuristic theme and other items in his house, he has a whirlpool bath, shower stall, laptop, air conditioner, and a plinkoid. His wallpaper is the cityscape wall, and the carpet is the astro floor. On his astro CD player, he has K.K. Soul playing.

In New Horizons, his house resembles an elegant bathroom. His house now has a flatscreen TV, a sink, a bidet, a tankless toilet, a screen, and a gramophone. He once again has a shower stall, a whirlpool bath, an air conditioner, and his wallpaper and flooring are the same.

Chadder was added to Pocket Camp in the January 30, 2019 update.

Chadder's preferred theme is modern, and he primarily gives cotton as a reward. His profile reads:

❝ According to Chadder, his parents meant to name him after their favorite cheese but got the vowels mixed up. He probably made that up to be funny, though.❞

• According to his Pocket Camp bio, Chadder's parents have meant to name him "cheddar", but mixed up the vowels.
