Bunny Balloons (うさぎふうせん, Usagi Fūsen?) are items given out by Phineas in the City in City Folk or given out by Redd at the Lake (River Pool) on July 4 and Nook during his special sales (Animal Crossing). In New Leaf, they can be obtained by streetpassing a player in the Happy Home Showcase for the 5th time. They are only available in City Folk and New Leaf. If the player trips, the balloon will float into the sky, unable to get it back. The balloon will also float away if the player is stung by bees while holding the balloon.

The bunny balloons are one of 4 prizes Phineas will give the player. They are:
- Pinwheel
- Bubble wand
- Balloon
- Bunny balloon
To obtain the bunny balloon (or any of the other prizes), the player can find Phineas (it is said) on a weekend at a random time at the city. But sometimes he will appear for days in a row, then he will be gone for weeks. There are 6 different colors, and there's no telling which one the player will get. When the player asks for the bunny balloon, Phineas will say:
"Ah, looking for a bunny balloon? Can't say I blame you. I'm a sucker for those cute little guys, too! Lessee...No, wrong color...Aha! Here you go missy/sonny! Keep a tight grip on that balloon! Rabbits have a way getting away from you, you know!"
Phineas may say this as while wearing the accessory, the King Tut Mask, the player may trip and the balloon will float into the sky. The balloon will also float away if the player is stung by bees while holding the balloon.
