SpotPass is a built-in wireless feature exclusive to the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. It allows the console to connect to a wireless network to download additional content for the console as well as for games installed on the console. It replaces WiiConnect24 on the Nintendo Wii console. It is similar to StreetPass, which is exclusive to the Nintendo 3DS and allows the console to download data from other 3DS consoles when in range of each other.

SpotPass is used in New Leaf to download Distributed Items through the 3DS console.

Receiving Distributed Items[]

Each time an item is available and downloaded, Pete will deliver the distributed items to the player outside their house, similar to City Folk.
