- "I got a flatworm! Why's it so flat? Steamroller?" —New Leaf
The flatworm is a benthic animal found at the bottom of the sea. It has a circular shadow. Diving is the only way to get it.

In New Leaf
"Flatworms are flat creatures, and while some types look like sea slugs, they have little else in common. Some types are venomous and produce a poison similar to the kind blowfish are famous for. Flatworms are hermaphrodites and mate by fighting to determine the loser, who then bears the eggs."
- Main article: Flatworm on Wikipedia
The word "flatworm" is used as an umbrella term for a vast amount of primitive creatures, ranging from as large as two feet long to completely invisible to the naked eye. The flatworm family, Platyhelminthes, is host to many dangerous parasites such as tapeworms and flukes, infamous for attacking livestock, humans, and many other animals—at least one is known to infest whales. The nonparasitic animals usually called flatworms, however, resemble sea slugs or worms and are generally harmless to humans.
