I need to get out of here! The comedy is so bad, I feel like the walls are closing in on me! Help!
― Harry, City Folk

Harry (オリバー, Oribā?, Oliver) is a cranky hippo villager in the Animal Crossing series. He first appeared in Animal Forest e+, where he was a jock islander. He later reappeared in City Folk and New Leaf as a cranky villager. His name, "Harry", may be a play on the word "hairy", which refers to his mustache. His initial phrase, "beach bum", relates to when he lived on the island. He has the education hobby.

Appearance[]

Harry AFe+

Harry in Animal Forest e+

Harry is a brownish-yellow hippo with a big, black, bushy mustache and eyebrows. His mustache also transitions into a thinner beard. He also has cream colored lips and hooves. He is slightly similar in appearance to Prince, who also has cream-colored lips and a beard. He initially wears the jungle camo, which goes with his rugged exterior. The inside of his ears are a hot pink. In Animal Forest e+, he initially wears the Blue Aloha shirt, since he is an islander, and from City Folk onward, he initially wears a Jungle-Camo Tee.

Personality

Harry's personality changes from a jock islander in Animal Forest e+ to a cranky villager in City Folk.

In Animal Forest e+

Below is a brief description of the jock personality. For more information, click here.

Harry has a jock personality and has a great interest in sports and bodybuilding. Jock villagers are hyperactive and motivated, but often come across as self-centered and dense. As a jock villager, Harry is very interested in his hobby, and may compete against the player at catching bugs and fish. Jock villagers get along with peppy, cranky, and sisterly villagers, but conflict with the laid-back lifestyle of lazy villagers. Snooty villagers may also be difficult to get along with for Harry.

In City Folk

Below is a brief description of the cranky personality. For more information, click here.

Cranky villagers will usually appear in a grouchy or agitated mood. When talking to the player, cranky villagers tend to become angry if the player disagrees with them or refuses to do a favor. Like all cranky villagers, Harry will be invested in his hobby and will often challenge the player to various competitions. He will easily get along with jock, snooty, and other cranky villagers, and occasionally lazy and normal villagers as well. However, he will find it hard to socialize with peppy villagers, as they will seem overstimulated or immature.

House[]

Harry listens to the song K.K. Calypso. His home has a bathroom theme to it, containing a clawfoot tub, shower, men's toilet, and super toilet. He also has two Tall Droploids.

In City Folk, Harry doesn't own the furniture linked to the Bathroom Theme; instead, it is replaced with Public Bath-themed furniture along with the Bathhouse Floor and Wall. He now only has one Tall Droploid in his house. He also owns a Conga Drum, Phonograph, and a Corn Plant. K.K. Calypso still plays in his house.

In New Leaf, Harry's house is configured almost identically to City Folk. The only major differences in this game is that some of his house's initial furniture are slightly different, and his house now has two square bathtubs at the back. It resembles a public bath house.

In New Horizons, Harry's house has two baths much like in New Leaf. He has a stone bath and a cypress bath. He also has a sauna heater at the head of a beach towel for a bed. Next to the towel, he has a bamboo partition. His walls are a blue tile and the floor is a white tile.
