Hippeux (ディビッド,Dhibiddo?) is a hippovillager that first appeared in New Leaf. His name is intended to be pronounced like a French name, so read aloud it is said "Hippö." His Japanese name translates to David. He shares his birthday with Brewster.
Hippeux is a neon yellow hippo with white markings around his nose to his chin, one with thick buck teeth that hang out. He has curly locks of hair surrounding his ears, and the inside of his ears are a pink color. He has lazy blue eyes and and his initial shirt is the Beige Blazer.

Smug villagers are very polite, kind, and gentleman-like. As a smug villager, Hippeux will get along easily with other villagers. Smug villagers get along well with most villagers, their personality appearing to be a mix of the other personality types. Smug villagers will stroke their egos from time to time, going on about how cool they are.
Generally, Hippeux will get along with lazy, normal, snooty, and peppy villagers, and may conflict with cranky villagers.

Hippeux' house has an elegant interior theme, mainly using furniture from the Rococo Series such as a Rococo Bed, Sofa, Table and Candlestick along with an Cabana Screen, and a Regal Lamp.
