Insurance can be obtained from Lyle who visits your town on Saturdays. Insurance can protect the player from bee stings and forged paintings. Insurance is basically a scam forged paintings will only get the player 100 bells from Lyle but is more than Tom Nook will pay for them(10 bells per fake), bee stings are also only 100 bells compensation. It costs 3,000 bells and is hard to make back the money through Insurance.However it would be possible to make the money back after 30 stings.

Insurance only appears in Animal Crossing: Wild World. It does not appear in Animal Crossing: City Folk since Lyle is now working for the Happy Room Academy.
