Leilani (クーコ, Kūko?) is a green turtle (Kappa in the Japanese version) that appears exclusively in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. She is Kapp'n's wife, Leila's mother, and Grams's daughter-in-law. Along with Grams and Leila, she works at the information desk on the Island in New Leaf, where she organizes various tours for the player. She also gives the player the option to return to their town.
Leilani wears an orange, floral dress and has a red hibiscus in her brown hair, which is parted around the top. Her body and shell are both green. Although she shares many physical characteristics with the rest of her family, she is the only one who appears with round dot eyes instead of horizontal lines.
Leilani is very friendly towards the player and will treat them with familiarity after the player's first visit to the island. She is very content with island life, reacting with surprise when the player chooses to leave. She is cheerful, and speaks with an accent similar to her husband's.
Leilani acts as a sort of receptionist and works at the information counter on the island, where she assists the player in joining various tours. If an item is in the player's inventory when they attempt to join a tour, she will suggest that they place it in the box beside the counter prior to their departure or have it sold for 1/20th of its price. She is also responsible for organizing trips back to the player's town. She becomes slightly surprised if the player decides to leave, and will ask if they are sure they want to leave. This gives the player the option to change their mind if they decide not to go back to town quite yet. If the player chooses to leave anyway, she will cheerily say goodbye and tell them to visit again sometime.
- Leilani is a common Hawaiian name meaning 'heavenly flower'.
- Leilani, Grams, and Leila are some of the only characters that never play the town tune when talked to. This is because they live on the island, which is technically not a part of the town.
- She has the voice of a snooty villager.
