Marcel (もんじゃ, Monja?) is a lazy dog villager in the Animal Crossing series, who first appeared in City Folk. His name and phrase are French. "Non", (which means "no") is a mild joke on the French's way of speaking. It is stereo-typically used at the end of questions e.g. "This shovel is used for digging up fossils, non?". He may be named after Marcel Marceau, a French actor and mime. His name, along with Cousteau's and Gaston's, is French.
Marcel has olive green fur which looks black at times with a painted white face to look like a mime and/or a clown. He has round eyes which can blend into his white face, with dark pupils in the center of his eye. He has an orange (painted) nose and red (painted on) "whiskers." His initial shirt is the Chichi print. His hands and feet are also white, making it appear like he painted his face with his hands. He has an orange nose with red whiskers. His face resembles that of the robot cat Doraemon, a famous children's manga character.
Below is a brief description of the lazy personality. For more information, click here.
Marcel likes to explore and will usually be seen walking around with a shovel. Marcel will occasionally ask you to find him some fossils. As a lazy villager, he is easygoing and very friendly towards the player. Marcel gets along with most villagers and has no problem socializing with others.
HouseMarcel's furniture is Asian-themed. If he acquires a stereo, it will play Comrade K.K.. He has two Samurai suits in his house, Chinese-looking wallpaper and flooring, two Lucky Cats, and a Hearth.
- Since his birthday is on December 31st, he is the only villager in the entire Animal Crossing series who will not show up for the New Year's Countdown.
- He shares his birthday with Tortimer.
