From Animal Crossing City

Gender Male
Species Mole
Service Reset/Save Game Lecturer
Appearances Animal Forest,
Animal Crossing,
Animal Crossing: Wild World,
Animal Crossing: City Folk,
Animal Crossing: The Movie

Mr. Resetti (also known as Resetti), is a short-tempered mole who appears in all of the Animal Crossing games so far. He will give a lecture if the power is turned off without saving or the "RESET" button is hit, brandishing his pick-axe as he does. He is the younger brother of Don Resetti, the calmer of the two and the cousin of Vole Vinnie, who is only mentioned after resetting numerous times without saving in Animal Crossing and Animal Crossing: City Folk.

Resetting the game too many times will lead to a "fake" reset, and still resetting after that will lead to the game data being deleted.

[edit] Role in Animal Crossing

"Resetting... It's like...pressing an emergency call button. You press it and I gotta come read you the riot act. See?"
Mr. Resetti, Animal Crossing

Resetti's role in Animal Crossing stays the same throughout the whole series, but one of the main differences in this game is when he tells the player "Thanks for buying Animal Crossing!", which breaks down the Fourth Wall, where characters in a game or television programme talk directly to the audience, or in this case, the playable character. As forementioned, he appears when the Gamecube resets or is turned off without saving. He will appear outside the players house, giving a lecture of why saving is important. Resetting constantly will lead to him forcing the player to repeat lines of text to "drum" into them the importance of saving.

[edit] Role in Animal Crossing: Wild World

"If you're gonna quit, you gotta SAVE first! Use your head, punk! It's even written in the manual!"
Mr. Resetti, Animal Crossing: Wild World
"... You hate me, don't you? I mean, you just hate me more than anything, right? More than laundry traffic jams an' bad breath rolled together, right?"
Mr. Resetti, Animal Crossing: Wild World

In Animal Crossing: Wild World, he plays the same role as in the Gamecube game. However, he may be seen in The Roost in the Museum on Sundays between 2:30 PM and 4:00 PM drinking coffee with a relaxed, calm attitude.

[edit] Role in Animal Crossing: City Folk

Mr. Resetti in the Reset Surveillance Centre.
"Uh, yeah, so anyway, this is Animal Crossing: City Folk. Thanks for pickin' it up. Appreciate the support. So, on behalf of everyone at Nintendo, I... Uh... Yeah... So... I mean, I, uh..."
Mr. Resetti, Animal Crossing: City Folk

His role in Animal Crossing: City Folk stays the same as in Animal Crossing and Animal Crossing: Wild World, but he can now be seen in a new area in the city, called the Resetti Surveillance Centre. This appears at a random day after 8:00 PM, to the right of the city near the tunnel where he may give the player a Silver Shovel to leave the area. He will also appear the second time the game is accessed by the player, to talk about the important of saving, regardless of whether or not the game has been turned off or reset with or without saving. This is the only time he will appear by the player's house for something positive.

[edit] Role in Animal Crossing: The Movie

Resetti (called Mr. Reset in the film), has a minor role in Animal Crossing: The Movie. He makes his appearance when Ai falls over when Yu is chasing a dragonfly flying around her. He appears just after she lands on Mr. Apollo's flower patch. He warns her of the rules in Animal Village, but lets her off because the damage to the flowers was accidental.

[edit] Role in Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Resetti in SSBB. You can also see Harriet in the background.

Mr. Resetti appears as an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, where he will give the players a long lecture. His dialog box obstructs either the top or bottom half of the screen. Mr. Resetti will also respond to stage events, such as characters falling asleep or getting knocked out.

[edit] Super Smash Bros. Brawl Trophy Information

[edit] Mr. Resetti

A mole wearing a hard hat who'll show up when you restart your game without having saved. He pops up and lets you know in no certain terms the importance of saving your game. The problem is, his speeches are entertaining enough to warrant breaking the rules at least once.

[edit] Mr. Resetti (Feet)

A monster that normally appears from underground to terrorize players. However, he is not always mean or underground--in Animal Crossing: Wild World, he can be found sipping coffee at The Roost if you go at a certain time on a certain day. In the Japanese-only "e+" version, he works at a so-called "Resetti Observation Center" where you can pop in for a visit.

[edit] Trivia

  • Mr. Resetti's name is a play on the word "reset", as he comes whenever you try to reset the game and or quit without saving.
  • His first name is revealed to be "Sonny" in Animal Crossing and Animal Crossing: City Folk by his brother, Don.

[edit] Parental Guidance in European Manuals

In the European Animal Crossing: Let's Go To The City instruction manual, it states that Mr. Resetti may be frightening and/or disturbing to young children.

"Information for parents - Mr Resetti

It is important that players save before switching off the Wii console in order to retain data after each play session (see Saving Data, above). If players switch off without saving, the character Mr. Resetti may appear upon restarting.

Mr. Resetti's purpose is to teach players the importance of saving. However, parents should be aware that his personality and tone of voice, while intentionally humourous, are authoritative and may be disturbing to young children."
