“Mm hmm! This is my mitten, all right! I can smell the french fries I ate last time I wore it!”
― Papi, New Leaf
Papi (オカッピ,Okappi?) is a lazyhorsevillager that first appears in New Leaf. His Japanese name refers to his okapi-like appearance. His initial catchphrase "haaay" refers to the food that horses eat. He has the nature hobby.
Papi is light brown with a white face. His arms and legs are white with black stripes. His appearance suggests that he is an African wild donkey. However, he could also be an okapi, a close relative of the giraffe. Interestingly, instead of the hornlike ossicones males typically have, he has a hair whorl akin to a female okapi. He has black eyes, but when he is surprised or shocked, his eyes are the same as Isabelle's, and when he cries or does the "mistaken" emotion, his eyes are the same as Stitches'.
Personality
Below is a brief description of the lazy personality. For more information, click here.
As a lazy villager, Papi will be friendly and easy to get along with due to his laid back lifestyle. Like all lazy villagers, he has a love of food and relaxing. He will enjoy partaking in the usual hobbies, usually for relaxing reasons or for food, like when fishing. Papi will get along well with other villagers, but may offend or confuse jock villagers, who have a lifestyle of exercise and fitness, which conflicts with the lazy lifestyle of relaxing and food. He will get along with other lazy villagers with whom he will talk about food, comics, or superheroes. He will also get along well with normal, peppy, smug, and sisterly villagers, and occasionally cranky villagers, but may from time to time annoy snooty villagers, who disagree with the lazy lifestyle.
House[]
In New Leaf, Papi's house has Hypno K.K. playing on his stereo. His house consists of the modern wood series furniture. He also has a rocking horse in his home, referencing Papi's species.
In New Horizons, Papi's house is a beige and red-brown beach-style house with an orange straw roof and a beige door.
