— Peggy, Animal Crossing: City Folk
Peggy (ちえり, Chieri) is a peppy pig villager from the Animal Crossing series. She originally appeared in the Japanese-only Dōbutsu no Mori e+, was cut out of Animal Crossing: Wild World, and returned in Animal Crossing: City Folk. Her name may be a parody of Miss Piggy from the Muppets. There is also a type of sweets called Peggy Pig and Pals which may have inspired Peggy's name. Her catchprase is a play on the word "sweetie".

Peggy is a cheerful-looking pink Pig with short, styled auburn hair, pink blush, and wide, blue eyes. She originally wears the Blue Stripe shirt. Peggy strongly resembles Miss Piggy.

As a peppy villager, Peggy will always appear to be in a good mood. She will get along with other villagers including the player, making it easy to befriend her. She will enjoy the usual hobbies, and may ask the player for bugs or fish that she finds cute. She will easily get upset, but due to a short attention span she will forget ever having the conversation. Like all peppy villagers, she dreams of becoming famous in the future. She will get on well with normal, lazy, jock, and other peppy villagers, but may annoy snooty and cranky villagers with her upbeat personality.

On 16 April, 2014 Tumblr user Alsseniacrossing posted a conversation between her player and Pecan where the pronoun he was used rather than she, leading to speculation that Peggy may actually be male. It may just be a text error, however it has lead to speculation among fans that Peggy may be the first transgender villager in Animal Crossing (series). The issue has never been addressed by Nintendo.

Peggy may actually be male.
