Petunia (しもふり, Shimofuri^?) is a snooty cow villager. Her initial phrase, "moo la la", is a joke on the phrase "ooh la la", a French phrase expressing interest in something, usually in an item. It is also a pun on it as cows say "moo" and how snooty villagers may be considered to have expensive or fancy taste.

Her English name refers to the name of a flower called, petunia. Her Japanese name refers to shimofuri beef, which is from Japanese wagyu cattle and is usually fried.

Appearance

Petunia is a purple cow with a slightly darker purple spot over her left eye. She has a little bit of brown hair on the top of her head. The insides of her ears are blue, and she has light blue eye shadow to match. She wears black mascara. Her initial shirt is the Spunky Knit. Her horns and hooves are a gold color.

It's possible that the choice of purple for Petunia's color may have been inspired by Gelett Burgess's famous poem:

"I never saw a Purple Cow,

I never hope to see one;

But I can tell you, anyhow,

I'd rather see than be one."

Personality

Petunia is snooty, so she tends to be snobby, but can be nice occasionally depending on her relationship with the player. She will worry about her physical appearance and sense of style, usually relying on other villagers, including the player, to compliment her appearance. She will not get on well with lazy and jock villagers, who have conflicting lifestyles with her own- lazy do not worry so much about their appearance or fashion statements, and jock villagers often subtly criticize other villager's fitness, both of which are the main concerns of the snooty personality.

House

Petunia's house is very country styled with items such as the cowhide rug and the acoustic guitar and with some plants like the cactus and aloe to help create a country theme to it. She also has some furniture from the Cabana series such as the Cabana Table and Lamp. She also has a tall ovoid which also gives a country vibe. Her dice stereo has K.K. Country playing on it.

Trivia

• Petunia only appeared in Animal Forest and the GameCube games and hasn't appeared in another game since.
