- — Phil, Animal Crossing: New Leaf
Phil (ケイン, Kein?) is a smug ostrich villager who made his first appearance in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. His Japanese name comes from the word cane, a long skinny pole, in reference to his neck. His initial phrase may be a reference to a bird's call.
Phil is a predominately purple ostrich with a red mask and brown feathers. His beak and legs are also white in color. He is first seen wearing the "Dawn Shirt". His overall appearance seems to have some connection to a male pheasant, due to his brightly colored head and brown body. His coloration shows a resemblance to that of Falco Lombardi from the Star Fox series.
Phil has a smug personality. This means he will appear kind and gentlemanly when in conversation with the player. On numerous occasions, he will flirt with the player and admire them. Phil will occasionally talk about being into niche hobbies, like being a train fanatic or collecting plastic bottle caps. He will be very interested in fashion and will mention it often in conversations and letters.
