“Turn the other cheek.”
― Picture quote, Wild World
Punchy (ビンタ,Binta?) is a lazycatvillager in the Animal Crossing series, appearing in all games to date, except for Animal Forest. He and Cheri are the only non-islander villagers to make their debut in Animal Forest +, rather than the original Animal Forest for the Nintendo 64. His name may come from the word "punchy," which means being groggy or dazed from a series of punches. His Japanese name, 'Binta', means "a slap in the face". His picture quote from Wild World also relates to his easygoing demeanor. Punchy was featured on the cover of Animal Crossing, in the upper right window with Mitzi, another cat villager.
Punchy is a black and white cat with sleepy, yellow, purple-lidded eyes. His legs are black with white paws, as if he were wearing mittens. He has a set of whiskers on his cheeks, as well as a cat-like smile indicating his friendly, easygoing personality. Punchy has three different initial shirts, The GC Shirt (Animal Forest+), the Cherry Shirt (Animal Crossing and Animal Forest e+), and the Gray Tartan Shirt (Wild World onwards).
Personality
Below is a brief description of the lazy personality. For more information, click here.
As a lazyvillager, Punchy will be easygoing and easy to befriend. Like all lazy villagers, he shares a love of food and relaxing. He will enjoy partaking in the usual hobbies, such as fishing or bug catching, to relax or for food. He will usually get along well with other villagers, but may offend or confuse jock villagers because of their conflicting lifestyles. He will ask the player for fossils to add as decoration in his house. He might also ask the player to get fruit for him from time to time.
House
In all games, Punchy's house has a laid-back theme. In Animal Crossing, he has a Gold Stereo, Mama Bear, Speed Bag and various items of the Blue Series. He has the Blue Carpet and Mod Wall. He will replace all of his normal furniture with fish, insects, and fossils if you give him enough, so don't enable him.
In City Folk, Punchy no longer has the Gold Stereo but still retains his Blue Series theme, although with less Blue items present and replaced with fruit items. The wallpaper and flooring are the same as they were in the previous games. K.K. Love Song plays in Punchy's house.
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp
In Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Punchy will request that the player build a blue bookcase, a bromeliaceae, a blue cabinet, a blue table, and a blue bench before wanting to visit the player's campsite.
What do you call a cat who goes hog-wild without warning? Punchy! Be wary whenever he's around. You never know when he might turn claws on you or surprise you with a cat punch!
