Sandy (ラン, Ran?) is a normal ostrich villager who has only appeared in Animal Crossing.

Her initial phrase is most likely inspired by the fact that ostriches are the fastest running birds in the world. Her name originates from the rumor that ostriches bury their heads in sand when they are startled. Despite not having an icon like other villagers hidden in the data for Happy Home Designer, textures of her are in the game's code.

Sandy returned to the series in New Leaf, as part of the Welcome Amiibo update. By scanning amiibo cards this villager can be met via the campground and invited to the town.

Sandy is an orange ostrich with blue eyelids, dark feathers, a dark orange beak, and yellow feet. Her initial shirt is the blue scale shirt.

Below is a brief description of the normal personality. For more information, click here.
Sandy has a normal personality, and frequently acts kind towards the player. Normal villagers generally get along with cranky, lazy, peppy and other normal villagers, but may conflict with snooty and uchi villagers. As a normal villager, Sandy will usually wake up at 6:00 am, and is easier to befriend than most. Both normal and peppy villagers reference an unseen friend known as Moppina.

Sandy's house has a space theme, including items such as the Spaceman Sam, flying saucer, asteroid, and a few construction items. She also has three gyroids that play a very hollow space-like song. When given a stereo, it will play K.K. March.
