[edit] Money Rock
Every day, there will be one rock in your town that releases amounts of Bells when you hit it with a shovel or axe. Continue hitting the rock to obtain up to 7 amounts, and the amount of bells in each bunch increases with every hit: 100, 200, 300, 500, 1000, 2000 and 4000. The first 4 amounts are Bell-coins, whilst the last three are in bags. You can tell when you release a bag because a chime similar to the Mario series' 1-Up mushroom sound can be heard. The Bell Rock can only be struck like this once a day. The maximum total is 8,100 Bells. Each playable person can do this.
When you hit the rock, you will be pushed back and will need to run/walk forward to hit it again; unfortunately, this causes you to lose precious time and the rock will become inert before you can get all 7 amounts of bells. To prevent you from being pushed back, set your back against a barrier. Some rocks already come with such a barrier, such as a tree, cliff or riverbank, but for many of them, you will need to create your own. This is best done using your shovel to dig holes around your back.
Make sure there are at least 7 clear squares around the rock. Bells will not fall into squares occupied by holes, trees, items, fruit, or flowers, so the rock will not produce them if they have nowhere to fall.
For those with the Silver Shovel it must be noted that when performing this hidden secret, you have a chance to gain a major profit. When hitting the rock as normal, the Silver Shovel has a chance to double any of the values in any of the amounts that pop out the rock, resulting in a possible total of 16,200 Bells, but the chance of a double value is reasonably low. Even so, usually one coin or bag should double. Along with the normal clang sound, a double value amount has a "ping" noise and a spark from your shovel.
[edit] Items in Trees
IF your gate is open you can shake trees all you want and not get any bees. Every time you shake a tree there is a chance that a 100 bells will fall from it. There is also a small chance that a piece of furniture will fall. But sometimes a beehive will fall from it. If one does not run into a building or try and catch it you will get stung. If you get stung, there are five things you can do.
1 : Buy medicine for the price of 400 bells. (Note: If you store medicine in a cupboard or set of drawers in your house, you can simply take medicine from within there without having to buy new medicine.)
2 : Put up with it.
3 : Save and quit. Reloading will heal the sting.
4 : Cover the Sting (Possible options include the mii mask and glassess)
5 : Try to catch get them before they get you (they sell for 4,500 bells)
Villagers will comment on your horrific appearance even if the sting isn't visible (i.e. wearing big glasses, sleeping mask, etc.)
[edit] Money Tree
Once you have the golden shovel, you can use it to bury a bag of Bells. A sapling should sprout immediately. This may grow into a money tree which has a chance of producing 3 bags of Bells, each equal to what you buried, for a 30,000 Bell maximum (you can bury more than this but each bag will only be worth at most 30,000).
The max you can get from one tree is 90,000 Bells (three 30,000 bags). Therefore, for example, planting 100,000 Bells, while giving you a 100% chance of growing a money tree, will only give you 90,000 bells.
Money trees, unlike fruit trees, will only produce money one time before becoming a normal tree.
[edit] Moving Neighbors
The maximum number of neighbors you can have 10. Usually, as soon as all 10 places are filled, an animal will start contemplating moving away. To prevent this from happening, continue talking to the animal until it says something about "considering staying", or they ask you if you really want them to stay. Neighbors sometimes move to towns of the people that have visited you or to the towns you have visited. Once the animals finally move they send you a letter that basically says "Goodbye". If they pack up to move, there's nothing you can do.
[edit] Extra Item Spaces
By purchasing a dresser or anything else that will hold items, you get 96 spaces to put your items into. After this is full, every dresser you have will not give you more space; the same items will be in all of them. There are 4 ways to get more spaces.
1.) Put the items into the letters you have in your pockets. It will give you 10 extra places.
2.) Put the items in your mail and save them in the post office. The items will be saved along with it.
3.) Create another character, leave the items on the ground, and pick them up as the other character. Open the dressers, and they will be empty. Each character is allotted 96 free spaces of their own.
4.) Drop your items on the grounds and leave them there. (However, people may steal them during use of Wi-Fi)
[edit] Silver Shovel Secret
On a random weekday night at 8 P.M., if you go right from the area under Shampoodle, the cones blocking your path may be gone and light is shining out. This means that Mr.Resetti's Surveillance Centre will be open. Go inside and Resetti will give you a Silver Shovel in exchange for you getting out. Be sure to talk to him, as the cones reblock the path if you exit and the Shovel must be hunted again.
