The solemn painting is one of the pieces of artwork available in Wild World, City Folk and Animal Crossing: New Leaf. This painting is based upon Las Meninas which is Spanish for The Maids of Honor. It was painted by Diego Velázquez in 1656 and is currently on display in Museo del Prado in Madrid. It is a very dark but extremely detailed painting that features a young Princess surrounded by her maids of honor and chaperones in a large beautiful room in the Madrid palace of King Philip IV of Spain. It has also been hailed as one of the most important paintings in Western art history.
