New challenges! New people! We need adventure!
― Tom, Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Tom (バンタム, Bantamu?) is a cranky cat villager in the Animal Crossing series. His North American name is based on tomcats, another name for male cats. His name might also be a reference to the Tom and Jerry cartoons. He was absent in Wild World, but returned in City Folk, and New Leaf. His Japanese name is a reference to Bantamweight, a weight division in boxing.

Appearance

Tom is a blue cat with a white-tipped tail and muzzle. His hands and feet are also tipped white. He looks similar to Moe. His ears are straight and blue with a strawberry pink in the center of them. His appearance may be inspired by Tom from the Tom and Jerry cartoons, as Tom looks quite similar to the Tom from the cartoons. He carries the Flame Umbrella.

Personality

Below is a brief description of the cranky personality. For more information, click here.

Cranky villagers will usually appear in a grouchy or agitated mood. When talking to the player, cranky villagers tend to become angry if the player disagrees with them or refuses to do a favor. Like all cranky villagers, Tom will be invested in his hobby and will often challenge the player to various competitions. He will easily get along with jock, snooty, and other cranky villagers, and occasionally lazy and normal villagers as well. However, he will find it hard to socialize with peppy villagers, as they will seem overstimulated or immature.

House

Tom's home is very neat and oriental, containing furniture from the Exotic Series. It contrasts with his cranky personality. Upon obtaining a stereo, he will play K.K. Rally.
