Zucker (タコヤ, Takoya?) is a lazy octopus villager who first appeared Animal Crossing: New Leaf. His Japanese name refers to the Japanese snack "takoyaki", which is fried ball of dough filled with chopped octopus or many other types of foods. His English name is a reference to how octopi have suckers on their tentacles, as well as the German word for sugar which is zucker, or in reference to the candy. His catchphrase is possibly the sound an octopus may make when spitting up ink. He also shares his catchphrase with another villager, Bertha.
Zucker represents the Japanese snack "takoyaki", with a bamboo toothpick stuck in his head. His head resembles a takoyaki ball with his green freckles resemble seasonings put on takoyaki, and his "hair" representing a sauce that is usually served with takoyaki. He initially wears the Flan Shirt.
As a lazy villager, Zucker will be easy to get along with due to his laid-back lifestyle. Like all lazy villagers, he shares a love of food and relaxing. He will get along well with other villagers, but may offend or confuse jock villagers, who have a conflicting lifestyle of exercise and fitness, opposed to the lazy lifestyle of relaxing and food.
- He is the third octopus to appear in the series, alongside Marina and Octavian and preceding Inkwell.
- His name means sugar in German.
